Wow... The Purpose of LIFE...
Posted by aLv|N (Melbourne, Australia) on 17 March 2009 in Cityscape & Urban.
For the next few days, I am going to share my devotions for the pass week. I felt that it's something on my heart that God gave me, and I really want you guys who read this photoblog to understand why God is EVERYTHING to me...
It started with lazy day for me lazying around doing nothing. Feeling all depress and all, so I started looking for jobs. And it got worst when half the jobs I applied to, came back saying no. And the ones today that I've called told me I had no chance because there are too many people who are more qualified than I am. That was when it struck me down big time. All my life I've been nothing but qualified or over qualified in things I do... And now I am suddenly a nobody. So I shut the door of my room, put on "I Just Want You" with Joth's voice softly comforting me as if it was Jesus's...
"Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, ALL your soul, ALL your mind and ALL your strength"
Mark 12:30
Then it came to me, if we look deep enough in every heart, we would find a longing for meaning, a quest for purpose. As surely as a child breathes and the sun will rise tomorrow, the child will someday wonder "What is the purpose of my life?"
Some search for meaning in a career. "My purpose is to be a great hairdresser." Fine vocation but hardly a justification for existence. We opt to be a human "doing" rather than a human "being". Who we are is what we do, consequently we do a lot. We work many hours because if we don't work, we don't have an identity.
For others, who we are is what we have. We find meaning in a new car, a new house or new clothes. We are great for the economy for the moment but rough on our own budget because we are always seeking meaning in something that we own... Some try sports, some try entertainment, some even try cults and sex. You name it... I'm sure we all tired it or think-ed about it at some point...
I think it's time we all face the truth. If we don't acknowledge God, we are just flotsam in the universe... flotsam means debris. Debris is a word to describe the remains of something that have been otherwise destroyed. Basically, we're junk if we don't have Jesus.
This week's devotion has spoke to me a lot. And I am going to try to take you guys on a journey with me...
